Sage Ryan has committed to LSU, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Sage Ryan is a do-it-all defensive back who can fit anywhere in the secondary. He is not a tall prospect but is well built and packs a punch. Ryan is an excellent athlete who has speed, fluidity and explosiveness in spades. He can run with receivers or cover large areas as a deep safety. He changes directions well in coverage and is effective when playing man to man defense. Ryan displays excellent ball skills on tape and can make big plays for the defense. He has the range to cover ground in the secondary and has the diversity to play multiple positions and schemes.
Against the run, Ryan is a physical player who closes on the ball quickly and delivers big hits. Ryan has good read and react ability, showing the ability to recognize the play, evade blockers efficiently and find the ball carrier. Ryan is an impact hitter, thought he does need to wrap up more consistently at the next level. Ryan plays both offense and defense in high school and should only get better with his recognition once he settles on a position in the secondary. Overall, Ryan has the athleticism to be an impact player in the defensive backfield. Sage Ryan is a play-making defensive back who will develop into one of the best safeties in the country.
