Oklahoma SoonersRecruit Scouting Reports

Cody Jackson: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Cody Jackson is committed to Oklahoma, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a scouting report based on his film.

Cody Jackson is a fast receiver with soft hands. He has average height for a receiver but is a bit thin right now, though he appears to have room to fill out. Jackson has easy downfield speed, he doesn’t appear to be running hard but he is running past defenders. Jackson gets off the line quickly and has established himself as a big time deep threat. He does a good job of finding the football and has soft hands to complete the catch. He gallops under the football with ease and secures the catch. Jackson is good in contested catch situations as well where he adjusts well to the ball and can make difficult catches look easy.

Jackson is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He recognizes gaps in the defense and is difficult to catch in the open field. He does a good job of angling himself through the secondary and making long runs after the catch. Jackson is not as elusive as we would like to see in space, but instead uses his speed to get by defenders. He will need to improve his fluidity and route running at the next level to create separation against better defenders. Overall, Jackson is a dangerous receiver who can make a big play at any time. Cody Jackson, is a speedy receiver who will develop into a quality downfield threat for an upper echelon power five team.
