Size
Matayo Uiagalelei is a well built defensive end prospect who looks ready to take the field for a college team now. He has good height and length with a filled out frame. He does not have much bad weight at all and already looks the part of a college defensive end. Uiagalelei’s size and strength are readily apparent and will be an asset at the next level.
Athleticism
Uiagalelei has surprising athleticism for a player with his size and strength. He is quick out of his stance, with a good first step. Uiagalelei has excellent agility, showing the flexibility and change of direction skills needed to star on the defensive line. He has the speed in pursuit as well as the power to hold up at the point of attack.
Pass Rushing Ability
Uiagalelei is too big and too athletic for most offensive linemen to handle one on one. He has strong hands and is active with his hands. Uiagalelei already features a few different pass rush moves, including a good speed to power rush and a powerful rip move. His willingness to use good technique and hone his craft helps him complement his physical advantages and excel as a pass rusher.
Run Defense
Uiagalelei’s size and strength make him a force against the running game. He has the strength to hold his ground and anchor against the run. Uiagalelei has the change of direction ability to adjust and switch gaps to adjust to the ball carrier. He is quick into the backfield and disruptive against the run game, proving to be a complete defensive lineman.
Scheme/Fit
Uiagalelei has the versatility to project all along the defensive front. His size and athleticism make him an ideal fit as 4 – 3 defensive end, who can play different roles depending on the opponent and scheme. His size and power will allow him to move inside in certain packages, while his athleticism could allow him to play on the outside and even drop into coverage at times.

Matayo Uiagalelei is a physically advanced defensive end who has a rare blend of size and athleticism. He compliments those physical gifts with solid technique and the ability to use his hands effectively. Uiagalelei is the complete package and projects to have a high upside in college where he will become one of the best defensive ends in the country.
