Why Alabama?

Nick Saban has built an elite program in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide have won more games than any other team in FBS over the last ten years. In addition to their on field success, Alabama has produced excellent results in the draft, ranking #1 in our RBU rankings. Alabama has been recruiting at a high level throughout Saban’s tenure and is able to recruit high level players to Tuscaloosa from all over the country. The Tide may not be the favorite in this battle, but it’s never a good idea to count them out when they are among the finalists.

Why LSU?

Right behind Alabama in our RBU rankings is LSU ranking second on the list. LSU is the defending champion and proved just this past season how well they can utilize a well rounded running back in their offense. Wheaton has visited the TIgers at least twice so he is familiar with the facilities and the coaching staff in Baton Rouge. Running backs coach Kevin Faulk has been building a relationship with Wheaton since taking over earlier this year. LSU has positioned themselves well as a finalist for Wheaton’s commitment.

Why Oklahoma?

Lincoln Riley has built an exciting offense in Norman that allows skill players to play in space. The program has been performing at a high level making the College Football Playoff three straight years. Wheaton visited Oklahoma before the recruiting dead period began and was on campus again this past weekend for an event organized by quarterback commit Caleb Williams. Lead Recruiter DeMarco Murray and the rest of the staff have made Wheaton feel comfortable with the program and the family atmosphere in Norman. Oklahoma is the closest to home of Wheaton’s finalists and the Sooners are in a great spot to win this battle.
