LSU TigersRecruit Scouting Reports

Garrett Nussmeier: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year we will review the film of some of the top prospects and give you a breakdown of what we see. Earlier this year, Garrett Nussmeier committed to LSU, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Grant Nussmeier is an extremely productive high school quarterback who competes at a high level. He has average height and an average frame for a college quarterback but don’t let the size fool you. Nussmeier has a live arm allowing him to make all the throws needed in the college game. He can throw the ball with zip to fit it in to tight spaces or put touch on the pass and drop it in the bucket to his receiver. He has above average accuracy and is able to put the ball on his receivers. Nussmeier is not going to beat the defense with his running ability but is able to escape pressure. Once outside the pocket, he does a good job of keeping his eyes down field and resetting his balance to throw.

Nussmeier is a competitor and it shows in his play, he is creative when finding throwing angles and not afraid to try to make a play. This risk taking can get him in trouble at times but is still an asset overall. Nussmeier has to work on his throwing mechanics as he has a bit of a windup, but his footwork is sound for a young player. He will need to improve his anticipation as well which should eliminate some of the risky throws as he will be throwing on time. Overall, he is a talented quarterback who makes plays for his team. Grant Nussmeier has the tools and drive be a good college quarterback who can be an all conference type talent.
