Ceyair Wright: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Ceyair Wright has committed to USC. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Ceyair Wright is a poised cornerback with good athleticism. He has above average height and good length for a corner, though he does need to get stronger. Wright has great speed, giving him the ability to run with receivers downfield. He displays quick feet and changes directions well, showing the ability to shadow receivers in coverage. He is patient in coverage, waiting for the play to develop and the ball to be in range without panic. Wright does a good job of tracking the ball in the air and has the ball skills to make a play on it. He is a playmaker with the ball in his hands, showing the ability to turn an interception into a score the other way.
Wright does not hesitate to take on blockers on the edge and is a willing tackler in run support, though he does have a tendency to hit too high at times. Wright will need to get stronger in college to be able to hold his ground against the run. Wright shows good coverage ability on tape but does need to hone his technique to get the most out of his ability. Overall, Wright is well on his way to becoming a star cover corner. Ceyair Wright is a fast, athletic cornerback who will become an all conference type player at the power five level.
