Jacurri Brown: Scouting Report

QB Rank: #6
Team: Miami
Class: 2022

Size

Jacurri Brown is a tall quarterback prospect. He is still growing into his frame but has plenty of room to continue to add good weight. He will grow into an imposing prospect who is tough for defenders to bring down. He has the height and frame to be an excellent quarterback at the next level.

Release/Mechanics

Brown has a clean release, he does have a bit of windup to help generate power, but it is not pronounced. His release is quick enough as is, though he can be more efficient. His footwork is still inconsistent and he needs to do a better job of transferring his weight and staying on balance when he throws.

Arm

Brown has great arm strength and can throw the ball with velocity to all levels of the field. As his footwork improves, his arm strength will consistently play even higher. Brown shows good accuracy at times but is still inconsistent at times. Improving his mechanics, particularly his footwork, will help him be more consistent with his accuracy.

Mobility

Brown has a long stride and covers good ground with each step. He has the speed and burst to make big plays with his legs. Brown is elusive with the ball in his hands and runs with good power, allowing him to shrug off would be tacklers. He does a good job of selling his fakes and setting up defenders, giving him better angles to run the ball.

Intangibles

Brown is a playmaker, who can make plays where few others would have a chance. He displays good leadership traits on the field. His competitive nature shines through in his play and he continues to improve his game. Brown will need to show the ability to go through his progressions quickly at the next level, as opposed to high school where he can scramble if his first read is not available.

Projection

Jacurri Brown is a physically gifted prospect who has a very high ceiling. He displays the arm strength, athleticism and playmaking ability needed to be a good college quarterback. He is still raw as a prospect, but has the potential to develop into an all conference type of player in college.
