Tristan Leigh: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Tristan Leigh has committed to Clemson. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Tristan Leigh has a near ideal frame for an athletic offensive tackle prospect as he is tall, long, and lean. He will need to add bulk and strength once he enters college, but should have no issues doing so. Leigh is an excellent athlete that gets to the second level in a hurry after exploding out of his stance. He plays with tremendous effort and is relentless as a run blocker, finishing blocks to the turf whenever possible. Leigh plays with impressive pad level and leverage for a high school prospect and possesses a nasty streak you love to see in trench players. He will need to improve his hand placement and usage as a run blocker rather than relying on his size and momentum to move players out of the way.

In pass protection, Leigh shows excellent foot-speed in getting deep enough to handle speed rushers. He delivers a strong punch and maintains good balance for the most part. At this stage his footwork is not the cleanest, but he has the natural mobility and flexibility to improve quickly. Tristan Leigh is a very athletic tackle prospect who will quickly develop into a starting left tackle for an elite college program.
