Cade Klubnik: Scouting Report
Size
Cade Klubnik has good height at the position. He is on the lean side now, though his frame does have room to add weight. As he fills out Klubnik will have the size to handle the toll of playing quarterback in college. He already uses his height well to scan the field from the pocket.
Release/Mechanics
Klubnik does have a windup in his throwing motion, but he does a good job of staying on top of the ball before he releases it. This helps him maintain his accuracy, but he will need to speed up his release at the next level. His footwork is generally clean and consistent, helping him stay on balance and deliver an accurate ball with pace.
Arm
Klubnik has a good arm and throws the ball with velocity in the intermediate passing game. He does a good job of putting touch on his throws when needed, to drop them in pockets in the coverage. Klubnik is an accurate passer who places the ball exceptionally. This helps his receivers make plays without much separation.
Mobility
While Klubnik is not a classic run threat, he is a willing runner and has decent mobility. He has a good feel for defenders around him and shows enough quickness and savvy to escape the pocket and pick and choose his running lanes. Klubnik is a smart runner who is more effective in this area than a lot of more athletic quarterbacks because of his feel for when to run.
Intangibles
Klubnik has excellent instincts and feel for the quarterback position. He is patient on the field, allowing plays to develop and opportunities to present themselves without panic. Klubnik has the poise a good leader needs and always seems to be in control of the situation. He anticipates the game well and generally makes good decisions.
Projection
Cade Klubnik is a talented passer whose physical and mental game are both impressive. Klubnik’s instincts and confidence mix well with his physical skills and make him a very dangerous quarterback. He shows the traits to become a good college quarterback who will be an all conference type performer at the power five level.
