Jabari Ishmael: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Jabari Ishmael committed to Miami, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Jabari Ishmael is an edge rusher with excellent length and height for the position but needs to add a significant amount of bulk and strength to his frame. He has the potential to weigh in the 255-265 pound range. Ishmael is a very athletic prospect that flashes multiple times on film. He displays a very good first step, and solid change of direction ability when making plays in space. Ishmael has experience standing up as an edge rusher, playing with his hand in the ground, and lining up across from a slot when asked to do so.
At times he is asked to play linebacker and shows sideline to sideline range and very good closing speed. He uses his hands to keep blockers away from his frame and demonstrates the ability to disengage quickly to make a play. He must learn to play with better pad level and leverage and currently relies on his superior athleticism to make plays. Does not have much polish as a pass rusher and will need develop some moves to be successful at the next level. Jabari Ishmael is a great athlete with an excellent frame and length for the position, but will need to add weight and learn better technique to reach his very high ceiling.
