Emeka Egbuka: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Emeka Egbuka has announced his top four of Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Washington. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Emeka Egbuka is a complete receiver who does everything at a high level. He has good height and a strong frame with an athletic build that is strong and streamlined. Egbuka has great speed and explosiveness to run away from defenders or to blow past them on deep routes. He is smooth and efficient in and out of his breaks and creates separation effortlessly. Egbuka has excellent hands, a great catch radius and elite body control. He routinely makes difficult catches that few other receivers would have a chance at. He tracks the ball well and has the size, strength and ball skills to win in contested catch situations downfield.
Egbuka is also an elite playmaker once he has the ball in his hands. He is slick and elusive after the catch, making multiple defenders miss in tight spaces. Egbuka changes directions, starts and stops and misdirects the opposition efficiently with little wasted time or motion. He gets defenders out of position and off balance quickly and has the strength to run through arm tackles along with the speed to pull away for big gains. There are no real weaknesses in Egbuka’s game at this level, he will need to adjust to better athletes and competition in college but we expect he will make the adjustment and continue to excel. Overall, Egbuka is a do everything receiver who is a joy to watch on the football field. Emeka Egbuka will be a star receiver in college and one of the best players in the country.
