Clay Millen: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year we will review the film of some of the top prospects and give you a breakdown of what we see. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape on Clay Millen to give you a scouting report based on his film.

Clay Millen is a productive quarterback with a good arm. He has good height for the position but will need to add bulk to his frame as he matures. He has the frame to add good weight and should have no trouble getting bigger and stronger. Millen has a strong arm and does a good job using his entire body to generate good velocity on his throws. He has above average accuracy and can fit the ball into tight throwing windows. Millen is crafty in the pocket and moves around well to avoid pass rushers and buy time. He can throw on the move and has good awareness of where his receivers are even when he is improvising.

Millen is a capable and willing runner but would not be labeled a scrambler. He shows enough speed and awareness to pick up yards on the ground when the opportunity presents itself. He shows good recognition of the coverage and appears to understand where to go with the football. Millen tries to fit the ball into tight coverage at times, but will have to be more careful in college. He has solid accuracy but could improve his ball placement as he develops. Overall, Millen has the height and arm strength college teams are looking for in a prospect. Clay Millen will develop into a quality power five starter who can make some big time throws.
