Brady Allen: Scouting Report
Size
Brady Allen is a very tall prospect who is still thin, but has plenty of room to continue to add weight. Allen has a prototypical frame and will get stronger as he develops. He will have no trouble scanning the field from the pocket and getting the ball over the defensive linemen.
Release/Mechanics
Allen has a sound release that he could stand to tighten up some, but is certainly not an area for concern. His footwork needs to be more consistent, though it is good for someone as tall as Allen is at this age. He maintains his throwing mechanics well when on the move and generates good velocity even when off balance.
Arm
Allen has a very strong arm and can throw the ball to all levels of the field. He has excellent velocity on his throws and is able to throw into tight coverage and get the ball past the defender. Allen shows good accuracy, especially when his mechanics are right. He has the ability to throw the ball with some touch when needed. Allen has the ability to make strong, accurate throws while on the move.
Mobility
Allen has decent speed and can move around well in and outside the pocket. He is certainly not a dynamic runner, but he moves around the pocket effectively. He can roll out to move the pocket and will pick up yardage with his feet if the defense does not pay attention to him. Allen definitely runs to throw more than he does to pick up yardage running.
Intangibles
Allen has the size to see the field from the pocket and uses it to scan the coverage and read the defense. He consistently keeps his eyes on the coverage, even when there is pressure around him or he has to escape the pocket. Allen shows a good understanding of his offense and goes through his progressions quickly.
Projection
Brady Allen is a tall prospect with excellent arm strength who is still growing into his frame. He has the functional mobility, football intelligence and arm talent to be successful at the next level and is good enough to start for an upper echelon power five team.
