Ari Patu: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year we will review the film of some of the top prospects and give you a breakdown of what we see. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape on Ari Patu to give you a scouting report based on his film.

Ari Patu is a tall, athletic quarterback prospect with a high upside. He has a good quick release and throws the ball with an effortless motion. Patu has good arm strength and generates velocity on his throws without straining. He has good height for the position and a solid frame to continue to add the weight he needs as he matures. Patu is a good athlete who is a capable passer on the move, his easy release allows him to get rid of the ball quickly and effectively even when his feet are not set. He is also a capable scrambler who can pick up yardage on the ground. Patu needs to work on his ball placement and anticipation as he forces his receiver to stop and wait for the ball at times. Some of these issues will be fixed with consistent footwork and more experience. He is still a fairly raw prospect, but the toolbox is full. Patu is an athletic dual threat quarterback with a good throwing motion. Ari Patu has the ability to become a quality college quarterback who will be a starter for a Power Five team once he gets some experience.
