Avante Dickerson: Scouting Report

Avante Dickerson is committed to Oregon, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Avante Dickerson is an athletic cornerback who excels in coverage. He has adequate height at cornerback but will need to get stronger in college. Dickerson has excellent short area quickness, showing the ability to accelerate quickly and attack the football. He has good flexibility and fluid hips that allow him to mirror receivers and perform well in man coverage. Dickerson also has the long speed needed to run deep with receivers. He plays with good patience, allowing the route to develop and timing his play on the ball; trusting his technique. Dickerson reacts well to the football, and has the ball skills to make a play when given the opportunity.
Against the run, Dickerson shows the ability to close quickly on the ball carrier and uses his athleticism to avoid blockers. He is a willing tackler, but will need to add weight and get stronger in college against better athletes. There will be a major step up in the competition level in college, and he will have to prove he can handle better receivers. Overall, Dickerson is a good athlete who has tools to be excellent in coverage. Avante Dickerson is an excellent cover corner who will develop into one of the best cornerbacks in the conference.
