Markevious Brown: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Markevious Brown has committed to Mississippi. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Markevious Brown is a high upside cornerback with quick feet in coverage. He has good height and length at the position but will need to fill out some in college. Brown has excellent footwork and fluidity that allows him to mirror receivers well in coverage. He transitions well and breaks on the ball effectively. Brown has an innate ability to find the football in the air and the body control to adjust and make plays on the ball. Brown has the hands to finish the play with an interception and will fight receivers for the ball.

Brown may not be big, but he is a willing tackler who does not shy away from blockers. His instincts and closing speed play well in run support as well. Brown will need to get stronger in college, he shows the ability to redirect receivers now but added strength will help him in this area in college. His play will only improve as is his body matures. Overall, Brown has the feet and hips needed to play cornerback in college. Markevious Brown has the natural coverage skills to be a good college corner and will be a starter for an upper echelon power five team.
