Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Steven Ortiz is a well rounded cornerback that can succeed in many schemes. He has good height and the frame to grow into a well built college corner. Ortiz has good speed and quickness, he is able to change directions and get up to top speed quickly and can run with most receivers. He shows good play recognition and positions himself well to make the play. Ortiz has solid ball skills and the strength to battle receivers in contested situations. He is very solid all around and has good scheme versatility.
Ortiz is a physical player who will play through blockers and attack the ball carrier. He does not hesitate to deliver a big hit and should only get better against the run as he fills out. Ortiz has good athleticism and fluidity but will need to maintain that as he gets bigger in college. He is a good all around athlete but does not appear to have elite speed. Overall, Ortiz does everything well and will be an asset in the secondary in college. Steven Ortiz is a jack of all trades type of cornerback and will develop into a starter for a power five team.
