Notre Dame Fighing IrishRecruit Scouting Reports

Deion Colzie: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Deion Colzie is committed to Notre Dame, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a scouting report based on his film.

Deion Colzie is a tall receiver with good speed and great hands. He has good height and a strong frame to be a size mismatch at the receiver position. Colzie has good long speed, getting behind defenders downfield and running away from them across the field. He is a good leaper who can high point the football and displays excellent balls skills to make difficult catches. Colzie’s speed is an asset in the return game, on jet sweeps, and on screen passes. He also plays defensive back in high school, making an impact in all three phases of the game, but his college future is at wide receiver.

Colzie is also a good blocker on the outside, who is willing to engage defenders and help the run game. His length and size help him to effectively block defensive players on the perimeter. Colzie is very fast, but does take a second to get up to speed, if he can improve his get off, it will help him to maximize his speed advantage. His competition is not very good right now and he is able to win with athleticism, he needs to continue to work on the technical aspects of the position to ease the transition to tougher competition in college. Overall, Colzie has the size and speed to be a difference maker at receiver. Deion Colzie is a big play receiver who will develop into a star who challenges for all conference honors at the power five level.
