Donovan Jackson: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Donovan Jackson committed to Ohio State, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Donovan Jackson is an excellent prospect from a physical standpoint. He possesses excellent size and an ideal build for a college offensive lineman. Well built in both his upper and lower half, Jackson possesses the raw size to be able to contribute immediately at an elite college program. There is little bad weight on his frame but expect further transformation once he enters a college strength program. Jackson is an above average to good athlete in space who demonstrates a natural ability to be able to pull and locate smaller defenders. With very good leg drive, pad level, and balance he will be able to maximize his raw power and physical advantages at the next level.

Jackson is a player that shows great explosion off the ball and shoots out of his stance to block defenders. Jackson possesses tremendous power in his punch and when driving defenders off the line of scrimmage in the run game. Although he does not have ideal height, Jackson has long arms, and the requisite flexibility to be successful as a tackle. Donovan Jackson is an exceptional player with a rare blend of power, athleticism, and versatility that will allow him contribute early in his career, and develop into one of the best offensive lineman in the country.
