Jabez Tinae: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Jabez Tinae committed to Washington, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a scouting report based on his film.

Jabez Tinae is a good route runner with excellent hands. He has good size and a strong lower half, with the frame to get a little bigger in college. He runs good routes, doing a good job of selling his routes and then making his breaks efficiently to create separation. He uses his hands well and does a good job of framing the football. Tinae has excellent body control allowing him to adjust to the football and catch passes that are not on target. He wins in contested catch situations regularly using his strength to fight off defenders. He is also a good runner with the football, once he secures the catch, consistently picking up good yardage. He has an innate ability to make defenders miss quickly and find the extra yardage. The biggest knock on Tinae is that he does not have elite speed or explosiveness. While that maybe true, he does a good job of running good routes and being fundamentally sound so it doesn’t stunt his productivity. Tinae is a well rounded receiver quarterbacks will love to have catching passes for them. Jabez Tinae will be a well rounded receiver who hurts the defense in a variety of ways, he will be a multi-year starter at the Power five level.
