2021 Best Classes: The Offensive Line
With signing day finally upon us we look at the best classes in the country by position group. The offensive line works together as much as any group in the country and we will evaluate the classes as a group for that unit. For the purposes of this article we will use the 247Sports Composite rankings because they factor in all of the major rankings services. Here are the teams that brought in the most talent to block for their offense:
Alabama
The Crimson Tide ran away with the best offensive line class in the country. Four of their five commitments on the line ranked in the top two at their position. Alabama signed both JC Latham and Tommy Brockermeyer who are the top two offensive tackle recruits in 2021. Both players have excellent length and possess elite athleticism at the tackle position. With a pair of book end tackles that are the best in the country Alabama got a head start on their offensive line recruiting but also added quality talent inside.
Tommy’s brother James Brockermeyer joined the class and is the top ranked center in the country. James is a good athlete on the interior who carries his weight well and will develop into one of the best centers in the country. Alabama also signed two guards to finish out the offensive line class, Terrence Ferguson who ranks second at the position and Jaeden Roberts who is the 15th ranked guard in the class. Ferguson is more ready now, but both players have the power and size to maul defenders on the interior. Alabama landed three five star recruits on the offensive line and added two four stars to sign a group that is second to none in 2021.
Georgia
The Bulldogs put together a strong offensive line class of their own, which starts with a quality pair of tackles. The Bulldogs signed the number three tackle prospect in the country, Amarius Mims. He has excellent size and surprisingly good feet for his size. Mims will be paired with Micah Morris, who ranks as the ninth best tackle in the class. Morris is a powerful prospect who has a well developed physique and dominates at the point of attack. With a powerful pair of tackles, Georgia also added a pair of quality prospects on the interior.
At guard Georgia landed Dylan Fairchild, the sixth ranked prospect at the position. Fairchild is a well put together prospect with a good frame and good feet, he has some versatility and could play in multiple spots for the Bulldogs. Georgia also signed Jared Wilson who is the 20th ranked guard in the class. Wilson is not as highly rated as his classmates at Georgia, but he has good size and has the potential to develop into a quality guard at Georgia. The Bulldogs landed four prospects, with one five star, two four stars and a high three star to sign one of the top offensive line classes in country.

Notre Dame
Notre Dame does an excellent job of recruiting and developing offensive linemen. The Fighting Irish signed another good group in 2021, led by offensive tackle, Blake Fisher. Fisher, the eighth ranked tackles in the class, is a massive prospect with surprising athleticism who should prosper in South Bend. He is joined at tackle by the 23rd ranked prospect at the position, Caleb Johnson. Johnson has the length and frame to develop into a quality tackle at the collegiate level and should do well opposite Fisher. In addition to these two, Notre Dame added Joe Alt, the 31st ranked tackle in class. Alt has a 6’7″ frame that should fill out well and allow him to develop into a quality tackle in time.
On the interior Notre Dame landed Rocco Spindler, the third best guard in the class. Spindler has the attitude, frame and athleticism to be an excellent interior lineman in college. The Irish also added Pat Coogan to the class. He is the 33rd ranked guard prospect in the class, but has a good frame and projects to fill out well and develop into a good player. The five talented prospects assure Notre Dame has a bright future on the offensive line and will continue to churn out top NFL Draft prospects up front.

Oregon
Mario Cristobal’s background is as an offensive lineman and an offensive line coach so it should come as little surprise that Oregon is on this list. The Ducks landed two top tackle recruits to provide a strong foundation for their offensive line class. Oregon landed the sixth and tenth ranked tackles in the class, Kingsley Suamataia and Bram Walden. Both players have some filling out to do but have the frame to add weight and the agility and quickness to be excellent pass blockers in college. With two quality tackles on board the Ducks also signed a couple of good interior prospects to go with them.
At center, Oregon landed Jackson Light who is the second ranked center prospect in the class. He is a powerful player who gets to the second level quickly. He was the most impressive prospect on the field earlier this year when his high school game was televised. Finally, the Ducks also landed Jonah Miller at guard. Miller is the 17th ranked prospect at the position and has a massive frame and the attitude to be a devastating run blocker. The group has plenty of potential and should help keep Oregon near the top of the Pac 12 for the foreseeable future.

Wisconsin
The Badgers are no stranger to quality offensive line play and they have continued to recruit at a higher level during Paul Chryst’s tenure. The result was a quality offensive line class coming to Madison in 2021 that only signed three prospects, but all three are high quality prospects. The crown jewel of the group is Nolan Rucci who is the fifth ranked offensive tackle in the class. Rucci has the frame and length to be a franchise left tackle with good feet and balance, especially at his size. Rucci is one of the best tackles in the country and he is joined by two more quality tackles in the Badgers class.
JP Benzschawel and Riley Mahlman rank 15th and 16th at the position. Both players have the length and frame to fill out and the feet to become excellent players across the line. They fit the mold Wisconsin has excelled at developing recently and building some of the best offensive lines in the country. Though all three players are tackle prospects, they could always kick inside and be quality interior players for the Badgers as well. Wisconsin has recruited three high end prospects that fit their mold for success and should continue to be one of the best offensive line factories in college football.

You left out Texas A&M. Weak recruiting coverage.
Them and Clemson were the next two, but we cut lists off at top 5.
Joe Alt at ND might ultimately be the best of the bunch in terms of NFL draft someday. Look it up
