Rocco Spindler: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Rocco Spindler will be announcing his commitment on August 8th and is choosing between Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and LSU. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Rocco Spindler has good size and enough length to be an impactful lineman at the next level. He has the frame to add plenty of bulk and strength, and does not carry much, if any, bad weight. Spindler plays a mauling style of football, looking to inflict pain on his opponents every opportunity he gets. Displays more power than his current frame would indicate and shows enough athleticism to routinely make blocks at the second level. Spindler plays with good leverage and pad level, and consistently drives his feet to maximize his athletic advantages.

In pass protection, he shows the power and balance to neutralize pass rushers by keeping his base and delivering a powerful punch. Spindler plays with excellent effort and tenacity, and has made blocking through the whistle a habit. He may lack the length and athleticism needed to play tackle at the collegiate level, but has the tools to be a successful interior offensive lineman. Look for Rocco Spindler to add some mass to his frame and blossom into an All-Conference level performer as an interior offensive lineman.
