WR Rankings: Troy Franklin
As we review the WR rankings, players have had the opportunity to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we jump into Troy Franklin, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves:
- The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
- Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
- Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
- We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

Oregon wide receiver, Troy Franklin earned playing time as a true freshman in 2021 and though he flashed at times did not get the opportunity to make a larger impact. He has made that larger impact in the first half of the 2022 season, becoming the leading receiver for the Ducks and making big plays to help win key games. Over the first six games, Franklin has tallied 27 catches for 429 yards and 3 touchdowns. The sophomore receiver has shown of his big-play ability and is quickly becoming one of the more dangerous receivers in the country.
Franklin has all of the tools to be a big-play threat. He checks in at 6’3″ 178 lbs with the length and sleek build to be a threat downfield. Franklin has a quick first step, showing the ability to win off the line of scrimmage. He then has the downfield speed to extend the separation he has created and pull away from defenders. Franklin has that blend of length and speed that is difficult to contain, creating big plays for the offense.
Franklin also shows the excellent ball skills to be a reliable target in any situation. He tracks the ball very well downfield, getting himself in good position to win on deep balls. Franklin is natural catching the ball showing good body control and high-pointing the ball to make contested catches. He has soft hands, limiting the drops or bobbles on underneath routes. Franklin’s smooth catching ability make him a trusted target for his quarterback.
Troy Franklin has become a big-play threat in the Oregon offense. He has the speed to stretch the defense and the length to win downfield. Franklin is also a reliable receiver who can move the chains and be a go-to threat in any situation. He has developed quickly and is well on his way to becoming one of the better receivers in college football.
