WR Rankings: Marvin Harrison Jr

As we review the WR rankings, players have had the opportunity to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we jump into Marvin Harrison Jr, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves:

  • The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
  • Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
  • Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
  • We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

Ohio State wide receiver, Marvin Harrison Jr finished his true freshman season with a three touchdown performance in the Rose Bowl, it was a breakout performance that set the expectations high for his sophomore season. He has lived up to those expectations in 2022, adding two more three touchdown performances in the first half of the season. Through six games, Harrison Jr has made 31 catches for 536 yards and 9 touchdowns. The second year receiver is a mismatch for defensive backs and is quickly becoming one of the best receivers in college football.

Harrison Jr has a tremendous catch radius, giving his quarterback an easy target downfield. He measures in at 6’4″ 205 lbs with long arms to fit his excellent frame. Harrison Jr has good leaping ability and displays uncanny body control when adjusting to the ball. The result is a receiver that can adjust to the ball and go over, around or through defenders to make the catch. Harrison Jr is able to bully defensive backs downfield, winning the football consistently in contested situations.

While the size and catching ability finish the highlight reel plays, Harrison Jr is much more than just a big receiver who wins jump balls. He has good speed, showing the ability to get by defenders on deep routes or beat them across the field. Harrison Jr is also surprisingly fluid for a player his size, changing directions well to create separation from defensive backs. He is a precise route runner who sets defenders up effectively and creates space for his quarterback to get him the ball. Harrison Jr is as good before the catch with his athleticism and technical skills as he is making the catch downfield.

Marvin Harrison Jr is well on his way to being a star. He has impressive size and the ball skills to take advantage of it downfield. Harrison Jr is a technician when running routes with the athleticism to make defenders pay for each misstep. He has proven early in his career that he will be one of the top receivers in the country.
