Troy Franklin: A Quick Look At What The Ducks Are Getting
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Troy Franklin committed to Oregon, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Troy Franklin is a dynamic wide receiver prospect in every way. Franklin has great speed, he easily eats up turf on the football field and zooms past defenders. To go with that great speed he also has great acceleration, which allows him to gear up to top speed quickly, making the defenders job nearly impossible. Franklin is a tall receiver with good length, he needs to add some weight but has the frame to add quality weight as he gets stronger. He is very natural catching the ball, he receives the ball well with his hands and has great ball skills on jump balls. Franklin also has good body control and is able to adjust well to balls that are not thrown on target.
Once he has the ball, Franklin is off to the races, defenders have a difficult time keeping up with his speed and acceleration, but he also has good side to side agility, Franklin may not be the shiftiest guy but he can make guys miss in the open field or run away from them. He is a decent route runner for a high school prospect and shows the ability to improve in this regard. Franklin has all the physical traits you look for in a receiver. Troy Franklin is a game breaking wide receiver who should be a star in Eugene.
