Thomas Fidone: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year we will review the film of some of the top prospects and give you a breakdown of what we see. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape on Thomas Fidone to give you a scouting report based on his film.

Thomas Fidone is a tall, long, and athletic prospect that has the frame to add a significant amount of additional mass. He will need to add weight before he will be able to help block as an in-line tight end at the next level. Fidone is a great athlete who moves naturally around the field and can change directions better than most players his size. Although he has more quickness than you would expect, Fidone is definitely faster than he is sudden as an athlete. There is plenty of upside and potential to unlock in his game from a physical standpoint.

Fidone plays wide receiver for his team and is a proven pass catching threat. He is able to beat prep level defensive backs with his size and speed but is rarely tested at this level due to his extraordinary athletic advantage. Fidone is a natural pass catcher who does not fight against the ball and shows the ability to pluck passes out of the air. He also flashes the ability to make contested catches and displays the body control needed to tap his feet in bounds near the sideline. We would like to see him catch the away from his body on a more consistent basis, but Fidone displays the ability to do so on other occasions. Thomas Fidone is an excellent tight end prospect with the potential to develop into an All-Conference level performer in College.
