Jaeden Roberts: A Quick Look At What The Tigers Are Getting

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Jaeden Roberts committed to Auburn, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Jaeden Roberts is a MASSIVE prospect that is surprisingly well put together for a player his size. Roberts does not appear to carry much bad weight and is very well built for a high school prospect. He has no trouble moving defenders at the line of scrimmage and converts his raw size and strength into functional power on a consistent basis. For a player that is so physically imposing, Roberts shows comfort when pulling and on combo blocks. He is able to get to the point of attack and engage blockers in space, usually stonewalling or flattening them in the process. This is a player who is not afraid to hustle and is consistently running downfield looking to make blocks deep into the secondary. This review is purely based on film, but this type of hustle and effort are indicative of an unselfish player who understands the importance of effort (you can see him chase down a defender after a turnover in the video above). Roberts does not have poor footwork, but he is not a player that projects as a tackle. Like many young linemen he often does not maintain his pad level after the snap and gets upright far too quickly. Ultimately, Jaeden Roberts is an excellent interior offensive line prospect who should quickly become one of the most imposing guards in the nation.
