Nathaniel Wiggins: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Nathaniel Wiggins has flipped his commitment to Clemson. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Nathaniel Wiggins is a tall and athletic cornerback prospect. He has excellent height and should continue to get stronger as he matures. Wiggins has excellent quickness and explosiveness, allowing him to mirror receivers and close on the ball quickly. He has the flexibility needed to play cornerback, making him a perfect fit as an outside corner in college. He has good speed and can turn and run with receivers down the field. Wiggins has the ball skills to win in contested situations consistently. He is a fluid athlete that will continue to improve with experience.

Wiggins plays both ways in high school and could play offense in college if he wanted to. He seems very comfortable at cornerback but should be able to improve his technique as he focuses on one position. He should be a capable defender in run support, especially as he gets stronger. Wiggins is a willing tackler but will need to wrap up more consistently in college. Overall, Wiggins has a good combination of size, quickness and instincts to become an excellent corner. Nathaniel Wiggins will develop into a star as a cornerback and challenge for all conference honors at the collegiate level.
