Sawyer Robertson: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year we will review the film of some of the top prospects and give you a breakdown of what we see. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape on Sawyer Robertson to give you a scouting report based on his film.
Sawyer Robertson is a prolific passer who put up big numbers in high school. He has good height and the frame to add bulk as he matures. Robertson has good arm strength displaying the ability deliver the ball downfield effectively. Robertson throws with good accuracy and anticipation, quickly deciding where to go with the football, making a good throw on time. He can throw with zip and with touch depending on the situation. Robertson plays in a quarterback dependent offense, makes good decisions and performs consistently.
Robertson Is not a dual threat quarterback, but he does have some Mobility in the pocket. He won’t be a featured part of the run game but can pick up some yards if the defense falls asleep. Robertson needs to tighten up his release as he throws with a bit of a wind up at times. His footwork is also a work in progress and too often he throws from a flat footed base that does not allow him to get the most out of his arm strength. There is a lot of natural talent to work with as Robertson is still somewhat raw as a quarterback. Sawyer Robertson has the tools to become a high level college quarterback who will be the starter at a power five school.
