Why LSU?

The Tigers are coming off a national championship season and have a lot of recruiting momentum. Spindler’s teammate Garrett Dellinger is committed to LSU. The Tigers may be the farthest of the five finalists but they have proven they can recruit nationally, and Spindler would have a familiar face in the locker room and on campus. Ed Orgeron and company are recruiting at a high level and should not be counted out of this battle.

Why Michigan?

The Wolverines are closest to home and give Spindler the opportunity to play his college ball a short drive from his hometown. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh is putting together a strong recruiting class this cycle and adding Spindler would be a big step toward completing the class. Michigan is ranked #11 in our OLU rankings having a done a good job getting offensive lineman drafted. The Wolverines are the local program and have built a good relationship with Spindler over the course of his career.

Why Notre Dame?

Notre Dame is not so far away either and has also built a good relationship with Spindler. The Irish have a tradition of strong offensive line play and rank #3 in our OLU rankings. The Irish only had two offensive line commits in the 2020 recruiting class so the road to playing time is less crowded in South Bend. Notre Dame also loses at least three starting offensive linemen after this season, opening the door even more for immediate playing time for Spindler.

Why Ohio State?

Ohio State has recruited Michigan well recently and has secured commitments from several quality prospects from the state. The Buckeyes are a national power and a perennial playoff contender, giving Spindler the opportunity to play on the biggest stage in college football. Ohio State has also done an excellent job developing offensive linemen the past decade and ranks 5th in our OLU rankings.

Why Penn State?

For starters Rocco’s father is a Scranton, Pennsylvania native which provides a tie to the area. Penn State has been a rising program under Head Coach James Franklin and continues to recruit well. Lead recruiter Phil Trautwein has done a good job building the relationship with Spindler who visited the Nittany Lions in February. Penn State OL commit Landon Tengwall has become friends with Spindler and is encouraging his friend to join him in Happy Valley.

Here is our scouting report on Spindler.
