Why Alabama?

Alabama has been interested in McKinstry for over two years. He is impressed by Coach Nick Saban and the winning culture he has built in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide have won more games than any other team in FBS over the last ten years. Alabama is ranked 3rd in our DBU Rankings having consistently developed defensive backs for the NFL. In addition to the on field success and good draft record for defensive backs, Alabama is the closest school to home.

Why Auburn?

Auburn was also an early offer for McKinstry and he has visited the Tigers many times over the years. Head Coach Gus Malzahn and lead recruiter Rodney Garner have built a good relationship with McKinstry and have made a point to emphasize the family environment at Auburn. Auburn is also an instate school, and though it is a little further than Tuscaloosa it is still fairly close to home. Auburn only had one true cornerback commit in the 2020 class and offers a clearer path towards early playing time.

Why LSU?

LSU has done a great job of getting defensive backs drafted over the past decade, ranking first on our DBU rankings. The Tigers and cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond do an excellent job of recruiting the best at the position year after year. The Tigers are the defending champs and have a lot of positive momentum on the recruiting trail. While LSU is the furthest from home of the three finalists, it’s never a good bet to count out the TIgers when they are recruiting a defensive back.
