Prophet Brown: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Prophet Brown committed to USC, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Prophet Brown is a two-way star in high school who excels at running back and cornerback. Brown has good speed and is difficult to run past or catch on the football field. He has the acceleration and explosiveness to close ground quickly in short areas and make plays on the ball. He has good agility and is a fluid athlete overall which should translate in man coverage. He shows good ball skills and is a capable receiver out of the backfield on offense. He displays the ability to track the ball and make plays on it downfield. Brown’s athletic abilities should translate well at cornerback.

Brown plays both ways and has limited experience in the secondary. At this time he relies on his athleticism in coverage but should improve his technique with more training and game reps. Brown is not a tall corner and will have to prove he can handle bigger talented receivers in college, or he will be limited to the slot. He will have to prove he can provide consistent support against the run as well. Brown also has value as a return man where he puts his explosive athleticism to work. Overall Brown is a good athlete who brings value in many ways. Prophet Brown has the physical traits to be a good college corner with experience we expect him to become a power five starter in the slot or potentially as an outside corner.
