Owen Prentice: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Owen Prentice committed to Washington, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Owen Prentice is not the longest offensive line prospect but has good enough length and size to be an effective interior lineman at the next level. He is fairly well built and has the frame to add additional size and strength. Very quick off the ball, Prentice is able to get to second level defenders quickly. His athleticism shines in space as he is a natural pulling guard and is comfortable getting out in front of screen plays.

In addition to his quick feet, he plays with good pad level and leverage, allowing him to consistently win at the point of attack. Effort and energy are apparent on film and Prentice’s ability to combo block and get to second level defenders is elite. He will need to refine his technique in pass protection but displays the patience to wait for defenders and delivers a strong punch to keep pass rushers at bay. Owen Prentice is a very good interior offensive line prospect that should be a multi-year starter for a Top 25 program.
