Jordan Hancock: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Jordan Hancock committed to Ohio State, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Jordan Hancock is an excellent cornerback with high end cover skills. He has excellent hips in tight man coverage and is able to redirect quickly when covering receivers. Hancock has excellent burst and comes out of his back pedal quickly to break on the football, this makes him a good fit in an off man or zone scheme, as well. He has the speed to run with quicker receivers downfield and covers a lot of ground on the football field. He has good body control and ball skills that allow him to make plays on the football in contested situations. Hancock has good instincts to find the football making him an elite player in pass coverage who is able to do anything a college defensive back might be asked to do.

Against the run Hancock is a physical and willing tackler, who shows the toughness to fight through contact and make the play. Hancock has good height at the position and the frame and length to add good weight, which he does need to add. We are nitpicking some, but Hancock could be more consistent in his form as a tackler. Overall, Hancock has no major weaknesses in his game and can matchup with any receiver. Jordan Hancock will be an elite cornerback at the college level and one of the best at the position.
