Size
Nicco Marchiol has good height for a college quarterback. He has a thick build with room to add some more strength and is difficult to bring down. He already has the build and strength to handle the rigors of the position. Marchiol has good size and will not be limited by it in anyway at the next level.
Release/Mechanics
Marchiol is a lefty quarterback with good footwork in the pocket. His release does have a bit of a wind-up but he has good hand speed and gets rid of the ball quickly. He shortens his release when on the run and does a good job of maintaining good footwork on the move.
Arm
Marchiol has above average arm strength but does not have great arm strength. He throws with good zip over the middle but the ball hangs in the air a bit more on throws to the sidelines. Marchiol has excellent accuracy, touch and ball placement, showing the ability to pick the defense apart with his precision. That accuracy remains strong when he is throwing on the move.
Mobility
Marchiol has good mobility, particularly for a quarterback with his build. He navigates the pocket well and has a good feel for pressure around him. Marchiol is comfortable on the move and has the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. He is a powerful runner who can pick up yardage after contact as well. His running ability will be an asset for him in college.
Intangibles
Marchiol gets rid of the ball on time and his ball placement and timing create big plays for the offense. Marchiol’s mobility and strength give him a chance to make plays even when the defense had the original play defended. He has the flair for making big plays out of nothing, though he does get into trouble trying to do too much at times.
Projection
Nicco Marchiol has good size, mobility and accuracy that make him a quality quarterback prospect. He also has the feel for the position needed to get the most out of his ability. Marchiol’s skill set will help him develop into a good college quarterback who can start for a power five team.
