Marvin Harrison Jr: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Marvin Harrison Jr is committed to Ohio State, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a scouting report based on his film.

Marvin Harrison Jr is a big receiver who has the athleticism and polish to be a star. He has good height with the length and frame to get stronger as he develops. Harrison Jr has enough speed to get down field and has the burst to create separation quickly. He is a smooth athlete for a player his size and makes things look easier than they are. Harrison Jr runs excellent routes, with the nuance you would expect from a much more experienced player. He sets defenders up and gets in and out of his breaks with ease. Once the ball is in the air, he tracks it well and does a great job of shielding off defenders with his frame and length to make the catch.

Harrison Jr has good strength and agility after the catch and is able to make defenders miss and pick up yardage. He is not very elusive with the ball in hands but is effective nonetheless. Harrison Jr will need to become a more physical blocker, which should happen as he adds strength. He also does not have elite top end speed, but is able to get behind the defense and shows enough speed and fluidity to get open in college. Overall, Harrison Jr is an advanced receiver with good size and athleticism. Marvin Harrison Jr is a tall receiver with the route running ability and athleticism to be a high impact starter for a national title contender.
