Jordan Poole: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Jordan Poole committed to North Carolina State, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Jordan Poole is an explosive athlete who excels on both sides of the ball in high school. He has tremendous speed and explosiveness for a linebacker. He plays safety in high school but will be a coverage linebacker or a hybrid player in college. He has good range in coverage and displays good ball skills as well. He flows to the football well and delivers a good hit on arrival. Poole’s experience at safety will be an advantage in coverage as a linebacker.
There are other aspects of the linebacker position that Poole will need to work on going forward. He does not have ideal height for a linebacker but has a thick lower half and should fill out well in college. He needs experience playing the linebacker position and will need to get better at shedding blocks and fighting through traffic to make plays. Poole should add strength and bulk in a college weight program which will help him take on blockers at the college level and play closer to the line of scrimmage. Overall, Poole has the speed and athleticism to wreak havoc for the defense. Jordan Poole will develop into an excellent coverage linebacker, who uses his speed and quickness to make plays at the power five level.
