Jeadyn Lukus: Scouting Report
Size
Jeadyn Lukus has the height, length and build that college coaches covet at cornerback. He has a good build and plays with good strength now, and will continue to comfortably get stronger. Lukus has excellent length and is difficult to beat at the line of scrimmage and can be very physical downfield. He has the size to match-up with almost any receiver on the outside.
Athleticism
Lukus is a fluid athlete who is light on his feet and smoothly maneuvers in coverage. He has good speed and covers good ground with each stride keeping pace with faster receivers downfield. Lukus has excellent change of direction ability and is able to mirror receivers effectively in coverage. He is a high end athlete who effortlessly covers ground on the football field.
Hips/Technique
Lukus makes smooth transitions in coverage and is proficient in press man coverage and when playing off the line of scrimmage. He is comfortable engaging receivers at the line of scrimmage and has the hips to turn and run efficiently. Lukus displays a good feel for offensive concepts and reacts quickly putting himself in good position to break up the play.
Ball Skills
Lukus has good on field awareness and is able to position himself well to make plays on the ball. His height, length and strong leaping ability help him to make plays in jump ball situations downfield. Lukus is comfortable playing with his back to the quarterback and gets his head around on time to find the football and breakup the pass.
Physicality/Tackling
Lukus has no problem being physical with receivers at the line of scrimmage. He is very effective disrupting routes and knocking receivers off their patterns. He is also proficient disengaging blocks on the perimeter and making plays in the run game. Lukus sets the edge effectively and is a physical tackler who makes his presence known on the outside.
Projection
Jeadyn Lukus is a complete cornerback who has the size, athleticism and feel for the game to star in college. He matches up well with almost all types of receivers and has no major weaknesses in his game. With plenty of tools in his toolbox, Lukus will be a star at cornerback who is an all conference type performer at the next level.
