Jalen Milroe: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Jalen Milroe is committed to Alabama, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Jalen Milroe is an excellent athlete for the quarterback position. He has the speed and athleticism to play anywhere on the football field but also has the arm strength and passing ability to be a quarterback, which is where he will play in college. Milroe has average size for the position, but he has good strength and is well built which allows him to run through would be tackles. He has good speed and acceleration and can pull away from defensive linemen and linebackers. Milroe is also a slippery player in the open field, he has the elusiveness to shake would be tacklers and pick up extra yardage.
Though he is a great runner, this is not the only tool in Milroe’s toolbox, he has above average arm strength and accuracy as well. He can throw the deep ball, and find the holes in the coverage underneath. He could improve his throwing with more consistent footwork and better throwing mechanics. Though he has the raw talent to make the throws, he will tap into his full potential if he cleans up these areas of his game. Milroe does a great job of keeping his eyes downfield while on the move finding receivers who break open after he has esacaped the pass rush. Milroe will be a handfull for any defense as he is a true dual threat quarterback. Jalen Milroe should be a good college quarterback who could blossom into one of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12.
