DT Rankings: Bryan Bresee

As we review the DT rankings, players have had the opportunity to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we jump into Bryan Bresee, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves:

  • The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
  • Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
  • Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
  • We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

You can view the College Football DT Rankings here.

Clemson defensive tackle, Bryan Bresee had an excellent true freshman season in 2020. He was on his way to an even better second season before an injury cost him the majority of the 2021 season. Bresee made 2 tackles for loss and recorded 1.5 sacks in a tight win over Georgia Tech in week three, before suffering a season ending injury the following week. Over the first 16 games of his career he has recorded 35 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 2 pass breakups, 1 fumble forced and 1 interception. Bresee will be back from injury and play a key role for an excellent defensive front in 2022.

The 6’5″ 300 lb Bresee is one of the best athletes in the country at defensive tackle. He has the quickness and speed of a defensive end in the body of a defensive tackle. Interior offensive lineman are often over-matched by Bresee’s quickness and agility when rushing the passer. He is able to get penetration and has the pursuit skills to close in the blink of an eye. Bresee is a nightmare for offensive coordinators, as he is able to get in the backfield at will and disrupt the flow of the offense.

Another attribute that sets Bresee apart is his strong hands. He is able to control blockers with his hands and manipulate them to his will. Bresee can get upfield on the outside shoulder and then pull and rip back inside to stop a running play or keep the quarterback from stepping up in the pocket. He controls offensive linemen so he can anchor at the point of attack and disengage when needed and put his athleticism to work.

Bryan Bresee is a freakish athlete at defensive tackle. He has an impressive toolkit that makes him a tough assignment for the best blockers. Bresee is quick, strong and has advanced technique that harnesses his gifts and puts them to good use. Clemson will be happy to have one of the best defensive linemen in the country back in 2022.
