Destyn Hill: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Destyn Hill has committed to Florida State. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a scouting report based on his film.
Destyn Hill is an advanced receiver who produces at a high level. He has average height and a thin build but plays with the strength needed at the receiver position. Hill is a good athlete who has the speed to get behind the defense, though we would not call him a burner, he is plenty fast. He shows good feet and quickness in and out of cuts, and is able to create separation and yards after the catch with his quickness. Hill is an advanced receiver who understands the technical aspects of the receiver position, setting up defenders and getting open with ease. This separation makes his quarterback’s job easier.
Hill is a savvy player who can get open against all types of coverage, he can beat press man coverage with quickness off the line, he can find holes in a zone, or misdirect a defender playing off man and get open. He is also a capable runner after the catch where his quickness is an asset. Hill can make great catches and shows the ability to win in contested situations, but he does tend to let the ball get into his body at times. Hill has quickness and speed but will benefit from becoming more explosive as he trains with a college strength staff. Overall, Hill is an impact receiver who is able to get open and make big plays. Destyn Hill, is a savvy receiver who creates easy separation, he will be an impact starter at the power five level.
