Daylen Everette: Scouting Report
Size
Daylen Everette has above average height and excellent length at cornerback. He is a solidly build prospect who has good strength and has some room to fill out and add lean muscle. Everette looks the part of an outside cornerback at the next level, with the ability to take on the bigger and more athletic receivers on the edge.
Athleticism
Everette is an excellent athlete who can do it all on the football field. He has the speed to run with most receivers and can chase down ball carriers in pursuit. He is a smooth athlete who changes directions fluidly, minimizing his wasted motion. Everette also shows the short area burst to close on plays in front of him. He has all of the athleticism needed to star at cornerback in college.
Hips/Technique
Everette has the flexible hips needed to turn and run with receivers in bump and run coverage. He also displays good feet when mirroring receivers and wastes little motion in coverage. Everette has shown the ability to excel in coverage and is an advanced player technically for the high school game. In addition to his technique, he shows the instincts needed to anticipate plays in the passing game.
Ball Skills
Everette definitely has the proverbial nose for the football. He has the instincts to feel the play coming and then the athletic ability to get in position to make the play. Everette also has the hands and body control to finish these plays with interceptions and will beat receivers to the spot or in jump ball situations. He is a big play waiting to happen for the defense when he is tested in coverage.
Physicality/Tackling
Everette is physical with receivers at the line of scrimmage, effectively disrupting the route and the timing of the passing game. He is a willing tackler against the run, but needs to be consistent with his form when making the tackle. Everette also has to improve his leverage when attacking blockers on the perimeter in run support.
Projection
Daylen Everette has the size and athleticism to be an elite cornerback in college. He also displays the technique, instincts and ball skills to maximize his physical tools. With an excellent physical profile, Everette will become a top tier corner who is an all conference type performer in college.
