Corey Collier: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Corey Collier is uncommitted but is choosing between Florida, LSU and Miami. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Corey Collier is a rangy safety with good ball skills. He has good height and length for the position and should fill out well in a college weight program. He has good speed and can cover a lot of ground on the back end of the secondary. Collier has good anticipation and ball skills , which helps him make plays attacking from his safety position. Collier has a lot of untapped potential and should continue to develop physically and become an even more explosive athlete at the college level.

Against the run, Collier takes good angles to the ball carrier and is a willing hitter who arrives with impact . He does have a tendency to lead with his shoulder and not wrap up when he tackles and will need to be more consistent with his tackling technique. Collier is better suited to be a deep safety or in zone coverage than he is to play in man coverage. Overall Collier has the range and athleticism to be a playmaker on the back end of the defense. Corey Collier will be an imposing safety in college and should become a key defender on a power five team.
