Conner Weigman: Scouting Report
Size
Conner Weigman has a good frame for a quarterback and should continue to fill out as he matures. He has the strength to take hits and continue to be a running threat in college. He has above average height at the position and should not have difficulty seeing the field from the pocket.
Release/Mechanics
Weigman has a smooth and efficient release, he gets rid of the ball quickly and rather effortlessly. His footwork is solid in the pocket and he resets his feet well on the move outside the pocket. He does a good job of finding his balance when off platform and throwing accurately on the move.
Arm
Weigman has a live arm and very good ball placement. He can throw the ball with velocity and fit it into tight windows or stretch the field vertically. He shows the ability to throw with touch on his deep ball to allow his receiver to adjust to the ball placement. His accuracy from the pocket is good, but he is also very accurate when on the move and throwing when he is pressured.
Mobility
Weigman has excellent pocket mobility. He has good burst and quickness that allows him to elude pass rushers in the pocket and escape. He has good speed and is a threat to do damage whenever he scrambles. Weigman is elusive enough in space to make big plays at the second level. He is a big play threat with his legs, but his ball security does need to improve.
Intangibles
Weigman has good pocket awareness and feels the pass rush around him. He does a good job of keeping his eyes downfield when on the move and finding open teammates. He has a lot of confidence in his ability and will try make plays where many would not take the chance.
Projection
Conner Weigman is a talented quarterback who has the arm to beat defenses from the pocket, but also has the running ability to make plays when his receivers are not open. He is a high level prospect who will be one of the best quarterbacks in college football.
