Brian Thomas Jr: Scouting Report

Brian Thomas Jr is a big receiver with surprising athleticism and quickness for his size. He is a tall receiver with an excellent frame to get stronger. Thomas will be an intimidating receiver on the perimeter especially against smaller defensive backs. He has good speed and burst, showing the ability to get behind the defense or catch and run past defensive backs. Thomas tracks the football and catches it naturally, winning in contested situations with his size and leaping ability. He has good quickness for a player his size and is able to create separation downfield.

Thomas shows good ability after the catch, with the ability to change directions and accelerate to top speed quickly. He has the strength to overpower tacklers in the secondary making him a difficult tackle at this level. Thomas is still fairly raw as a receiver and will need to work on the technical nuances of route running, which will make him that much more dangerous downfield. He needs to add weight but we are confident that will come as he has a good frame to add bulk. Overall, Thomas’ size and speed make him a nightmare to cover on the perimeter. Brian Thomas will develop into a star wide receiver on the perimeter who could be one of the best player in the country.
