Adam Randall: Scouting Report
Size
Adam Randall has the height and build to be a major mismatch on the boundary. He is a tall receiver and has already filled out his frame well. Randall has the strength to overpower smaller defensive backs. His size is an asset and will help him create favorable match-ups for the offense.
Athleticism
Randall is not a burner who wows with his speed, but he has enough speed to get downfield for big plays. He has good burst and can slow down and accelerate back up to speed to create separation downfield. Randall has good agility for a bigger receiver showing the lateral quickness needed to create space.
Route Running
Randall shows the ability to run the entire route tree. His acceleration and lateral quickness help him create space coming out of his breaks. Randall has the strength to fight through defenders and get to his spot. He will need to tighten up his breaks a bit at the next level, but is well on his way to being an advanced route runner.
Ball Skills
Randall has great ball skills. He has excellent body control and adjusts to the ball effectively. With his leaping ability, strength and catch radius Randall can make tough contested catches. He has strong hands and will fight off defenders to win the ball. At times Randall lets the ball get into his body, but for the most part catches with his hands away from his body.
Run After Catch
Randall is a powerful runner with the ball in his hands. He has the strength to run through tackles and with his acceleration can be tough to get down. Randall is also able to evade defenders with his lateral agility, making it difficult to get a clean shot at him.
Projection
Adam Randall is a physical receiver who is able to overpower defensive backs. He has good route running ability and has the ball skills to make catches even when he is covered. Randall has good physical tools and has already begun to refine his game, he will develop into a starter for an upper echelon power five team.
