WR Rankings: Rome Odunze

As we review the WR rankings, players have had the opportunity to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we jump into Rome Odunze, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves:

  • The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
  • Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
  • Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
  • We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

Washington wide receiver, Rome Odunze showed some potential his first two seasons, but was held back by the team’s struggles at the quarterback position. He has flourished early in 2022 with a new offense in place and Michael Penix throwing him the ball. He had a solid start to the season, but exploded against Stanford catching 8 passes for 161 yards against the Cardinal. In three games this season, Odunze has 18 catches for 293 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has quickly emerged as a downfield threat for the Huskies and is one of the more dangerous receivers in college football.

At 6’3″ 201 lbs, Odunze has excellent size to create mismatches on the perimeter. He is a physical player that has no problem battling defensive backs for positioning and making tough catches. He is difficult to jam at the line of scrimmage, using his long arms and strength to keep defenders at bay. Odunze excels one on one downfield where he can make big plays using his size and speed. He is a difficult cover who is becoming an excellent big-play threat.

Odunze uses his size and speed downfield, but he also has big play ability after the catch. His strength and explosiveness makes him difficult to tackle after the catch. Odunze is able fight through tackles and run away from help defenders to make big plays on shorter routes. While he is an excellent deep threat, he is still a dangerous weapon on short and intermediate routes.

Rome Odunze is a big and fast receiver. He is tough to cover downfield and can win in contested situations regularly. Oduze has the ability to make plays after the catch as well, making him a big play threat in any situation. He has prospered in Washington’s new offense and is becoming one of the top receivers in college football.
