WR Rankings: Parker Washington
As we review the WR rankings, players have had the opportunity to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we jump into Parker Washington, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves:
- The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
- Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
- Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
- We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

Penn State wide receiver, Parker Washington has been productive since his true freshman season in 2020. He stepped up in the shortened 2020 season catching six touchdowns in nine games. Washington built on that strong start to his career with an even more productive sophomore season that saw him make 64 catches for 820 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was a reliable weapon alongside Jahan Dotson the first two years of his career and will now have the chance to be the go to receiver for the Nittany Lions.
Washington is a savvy route runner who can exploit the open space in the coverage. He does an excellent job working in the intermediate passing game and finding windows for his quarterback to get him the ball. Washington has good change of direction ability, setting up defenders well and then creating separation as he cuts to open space. He can then turn short and intermediate passes into longer gains with his elusiveness and toughness after the catch. Washington is a crafty receiver who makes a habit of picking up chunks of yardage consistently in the passing game.
Washington is well put together and plays bigger than his listed 5’10” height. He is a solid 207 lbs and has the strength and toughness to battle defenders for position when in traffic. Washington has the ball tracking skills to position himself well, then shows the timing to get up and make tough catches over defenders. His leaping ability, concentration and hands make him a tough match-up in jump-ball situations. This makes Washington an effective vertical threat and redzone threat for Penn State.
Parker Washington consistently finds ways to get open in the passing game. He has the route running ability and instincts to create and find open space to make his quarterback’s job easier. Washington is reliable, catching just about everything in his vicinity. He is able to make defenders miss and find yardage after the catch making him just as dangerous after the catch. He will be counted on to be the top option in Penn State’s passing attack in 2022.
