Videos You Don’t Want To Miss: September 26, 2020

A quick run through of the best or worst plays of the weekend. College football gives us something remarkable every week, we are just making sure you don’t miss it. For last week’s videos click here.

Trick Or Treat?

The Seminoles were down 21 – 3 and desperate for a spark, so they got a little tricky on Saturday night. The tried a double reverse pass with quarterback/receiver Jordan Travis, but Miami was not fooled. Nesta Silvera burst through and as he drives Travis to the ground, bad goes to worse, Travis attempts to throw the ball somewhere, but it flutters into the arms of Jaelan Phillips; the defensive end is no receiver but he bobbles and secures the interception and effectively ends any chance Florida State had of making the game competitive.

That Was Purdy bad…

The TCU bliitz fools the Iowa State protection and Brock Purdy actually makes a pretty good spin move to evade the first rusher through, but the second rusher gets a hold of him and swings him to the ground. Purdy attempts to throw the ball away before hitting the ground, but he is disoriented by the spin and throws the ball backwards to the defender he had evaded, who skips into the endzone for a touchdown.

Disrespect

Auburn wide receiver Seth Williams had himself a day against Kentucky. He showed the Wildcat’s defensive back no respect, Mossing them twice for touchdowns, and letting them know what he thought of their play as well. If you don’t like it, don’t let him score… but some things are easier said than done.

When The Punt Is An Effective Offensive Play

Early in the third quarter, Texas Tech is down 10 and punting to Texas, it was all part of the plan. The return man misjudges the ball and can’t secure the catch, in the ensuing rush to recover the football the ball is punched into the Texas endzone and recovered by Texas Tech for a touchdown. It turns out the Red Raiders had them right where they wanted them.

Get Out The Way…

Henry To’o To’o (what a name!) shows the quick hands to catch the tipped ball for an interception. Then he transforms from linebacker to power back, stiff arms #13 to the ground, shoves him out of the way again and heads down the sideline. To’o To’o directs his blockers into position and dives in for the score. If the Volunteers need some help in the running game, we know where to look.

Tackling Optional In Texas On Saturday

TJ Vasher catches a short slant pass and is quickly surrounded by three Texas defenders, he somehow escapes the Texas triangle after all of the Longhorn defenders collide ending up on the ground. He then makes a move in the open field to avoid two more defenders. Finally, diving through another trio of defenders for the improbable touchdown. This is not going to be a fun play to review in the Longhorn’s defensive meeting room this week.
