Videos You Don’t Want To Miss: September 19, 2020
A quick run through of the best or worst plays of the weekend. College football gives us something remarkable every week, we are just making sure you don’t miss it. For last week’s videos click here.
Check out the BOOM!
Louisville runs a throw back wheel route to the tight end, and it’s a big success, but the price was heavy. Miami’s Amari Carter reminds us that safeties are still allowed to hit in college football and destroys the tight end. Miraculously (and correctly), the targeting call was overturned and football is still a contact sport.
Just throw it up to 2…
Oklahoma State’s offense was in a funk. Tulsa was shutting down Chuba Hubbard and the offense was at three points late in the third quarter. Then someone on the Cowboys sideline remembered that #2 Tylan Wallace still plays receiver for Oklahoma State. Wallace made a few highlight worthy catches in this game including the first one on this drive which was pretty much all 2.
One Hand, Two Feet
Liberty’s CJ Yarbrough runs a go route up the sideline and his QB throws him a back shoulder pass (with a full spin mixed in). Yarbrough rotates back around snatches the ball with one hand and then, just in case NFL scouts are watching, gets two feet in. The refs didn’t believe it was possible and ruled it incomplete, but the replay doesn’t lie and the call is overturned.
Now you see me…
Louisville’s Javian Hawkins runs an outside run play to the right, but the Miami defense is all over it. Just before he is swallowed up by a sea of white, Hawkins spins back to his left and with a burst of speed turns a sure loss of three into six points for the Cardinals. Louisville may have lost the game but Hawkins’ performance was spectacular Saturday night.
Like Mike?
Miami’s Brevin Jordan was one of our stars of the weekend this week. Plays like this one helped make his case, as the 245 lb TE catches a screen and heads up field, instead of going around the oncoming defender, Jordan takes to the skies and hurdles him, regaining his balance and diving for the endzone. Unfortunately he stepped out of bounds as he dove for the score, but the athleticism was impressive.
Go, go, go… Nooo!!!
Down 10 early in the fourth quarter Appalachian State goes for it on fourth and inches. The Mountaineers went for it all with a play-action pass over the top to the tight end and it worked like a charm. Mike Evans was racing for the endzone to cut the Marshall lead to three, until Brandon Drayton runs him down and punches the ball out for a fumble recovered by Marshall and a touchback instead of a touchdown.
